Artificial Intelligence that Works for the Intelligence Community

Broad advances in artificial intelligence are dramatically expanding the capabilities and reach of human language technology (HLT) across the intelligence community. Deep learning, the latest innovation in machine learning, is accelerating the deployment of new language models at greater accuracy and lower cost. Compared to legacy approaches, HLT applications built on deep learning are easier, faster, and less expensive to customize for a particular domain or language genre, yet offer significantly higher precision.

But you’ve already read plenty of AI hype, just like the text of our opening paragraph. How do you assess what’s real and what’s aspirational? Adopting deep learning in a production environment is not without its challenges. Neural networks are far more computationally demanding, in some cases as much as two orders of magnitude. The path from today’s largely homogeneous clouds of x86 CPUs to tomorrow’s diverse clouds of GPUs, TPUs, and other yet-to-be-invented neural architectures is not at all clear.

Day One: Human Language Technology Conference

Speakers from Basis Technology and our partners will survey the current state of HLT, with emphasis on areas where the latest AI techniques are pushing the envelope in precision, breadth, and adaptability. Practical examples will be drawn from our experience in the Intelligence Community, the commercial sector, including social media, financial services, and identity resolution in the sharing economy.

We’ll also preview our new platform for identity analytics which extracts, disambiguates, and resolves entities in unstructured, multilingual text.
